The CCTV User Group is the primary UK membership organisation for professional public space surveillance system managers, operators, and community safety practitioners. Founded in 1997, it serves as the voice of the surveillance industry, advocating for ethical, compliant, and efficient use of CCTV, body-worn video, and video surveillance technologies.Members gain access to a wide range of resources to help run and maintain their video surveillance systems. Key aspects of the group include: - Resources & Standards: Exclusive access to template policies, operating manuals, technical guides, and codes of practice to ensure compliance with standards and data regulations.Advocacy & Liaison: The organisation regularly liaises with the UK government, the Security Industry Authority (SIA), and the police to represent the views of practitioners on funding, data protection, and crime prevention. Networking & Events: The group hosts regular informational events, regional meetings, and a national annual conference where members can view emerging technologies, discuss control room management, and network with leading figures in the industry. The events are CPD (Continuing Professional Development) certified. Membership Tiers: Membership is tailored for professionals from Local Authorities, Police forces, government agencies, Community Safety & Partnerships, Housing Associations as well as businesses that provide products and services to the industry (Business Partners).
