Why this directory exists

Why did the CCTV User Group build this directory?
We built this directory to do one job well: put the CCTV managers, operators and community safety professionals who make up the CCTV User Group in front of the best CCTV and security companies in the UK, fast. No more gambling on a general search result.

Every listing here has been reviewed before it ever goes live, so you're never working from a cold, unverified result. Many go much further than a logo and a strapline: Silver and Gold profiles bring a full company description, a photo gallery and more, giving you a real feel for who you're dealing with before you ever pick up the phone. See "What's the difference between Bronze, Silver and Gold?" below for exactly what's included at each level.

And when you're ready to reach out, it's refreshingly direct. Every business partner listing carries a real contact email, so you can skip the generic contact form and get straight through to the right person.

About the directory

What is The Security Directory?
A directory of UK security and surveillance suppliers, installers, consultants and public sector operators, run by the CCTV User Group. It's built for people who specify, buy or manage public-space surveillance to find and compare trusted organisations in one place.
Is this the same as the CCTV User Group?
The Security Directory is run by the CCTV User Group but is a separate site from cctvusergroup.com, which covers membership, events and the wider organisation.
Who can get a listing?
Two kinds of organisation: Business Partners (installers, manufacturers, monitoring centres, consultants and trainers in the CCTV and security marketplace) and Public Sector operators (bodies that run surveillance systems of their own and may also sell services to others, such as councils, police forces, NHS trusts, transport bodies, housing associations, universities, schools, and voluntary adopters of the Surveillance Camera Code of Practice).
What does the CCTV User Group Member badge mean?
It shows that a listing belongs to a genuine, paying CCTV User Group member (a Business Partner member or a Public Sector operator member), not just a directory customer. This is different from a listing's tier: a business can pay for a Gold subscription without being a CCTV User Group member at all, so it's the badge, not the tier colour, that confirms real membership.

Getting listed

How do I get listed?
Use the "Get Listed" button anywhere on the site to start a short form. New listings are reviewed before they go live, so there can be a short delay between submitting and appearing in search.
What's the difference between Bronze, Silver and Gold?
Bronze gets you found: your logo, strapline, category and accreditations, listed in searches. Silver adds a link to your website, a full description, a photo gallery and a pin on the map, and ranks above Bronze. Gold adds top placement, homepage spotlight, embedded video, extra named contacts and listing insights. Full details are on the Get Listed page.
How much does a listing cost?
CCTV User Group members get a free listing. Which tier depends on your type of membership: business partner suppliers get a free Gold listing, specialist suppliers get a free Silver listing, and public sector operators get a free listing too. Non-members pay an annual subscription for whichever tier they choose, including Bronze. Current prices for non-members are shown before you pay, on the Get Listed page.

Managing your listing

How do I edit my listing once it's live?
Sign in from "Partner Sign In" in the footer to reach your dashboard, where you can update your details, images and contacts yourself at any time. Significant changes are reviewed before they go public again.
Why was my listing change or image upload rejected?
Every piece of text and every image you submit is automatically checked before it's saved, to keep the directory free of inappropriate content. If something is rejected, it's not saved, and your dashboard shows exactly which field or image needs changing. If you think this happened by mistake, contact the CCTV User Group.
Do you monitor ratings for abuse?
Yes. We monitor rating activity against listing traffic to protect the integrity of the directory for everyone. We don't publish the details of how that monitoring works.
Will my email address be shown publicly?
It depends on your listing type. Business partner (supplier) listings show a contact email so buyers can reach you directly. Public sector operator listings (CCTV managers and similar) don't show an email at all: the address you register with is used only to set up and sign in to your account, and is never displayed on your public listing.
What do the accreditation badges mean?
NSI Approved, SSAIB Registered, GDPR Specialist and Public Sector Experience are accreditations partners add themselves from their dashboard to reflect their own certifications and experience.
Can I cancel or change my subscription?
Yes, paid subscriptions can be cancelled any time from your dashboard's billing portal. Cancelling stops future renewal rather than removing your listing immediately; members keep their free Member-tier listing regardless.

Gold tier extras

What is Prime Position?
A scarce, 3-month homepage placement available to Gold-tier listings, separate from the daily Gold Spotlight rotation every Gold listing already gets. Only 3 companies can hold it at once; if all 3 slots are taken, booking queues your 3-month term to start as soon as one frees up. It's a one-time purchase, not part of your regular subscription: current price and availability are shown on the Prime Position page in your dashboard.
How is "Today's featured listing" chosen?
Every Gold-tier listing rotates through the homepage spotlight on a fair, automatic daily schedule: no listing is favoured over another, and there's nothing to configure. It simply changes which Gold listing is featured each day.
What's the newsletter link for?
Gold-tier listings can add a link to their own newsletter sign-up. Clicks are tracked and shown on your listing's Insights page, the same way website clicks are.
What video link should I use?
Gold-tier listings can embed a video that your business hosts: a YouTube or Vimeo link only. Other video hosts aren't supported.
Can I request a category that isn't in the list?
Yes, Gold-tier listings can request a new Main or Secondary category from Requests in the dashboard, or via the "Can't find your category?" link when editing your listing. Once approved, it's added to your listing automatically.
Can I suggest a new directory feature?
Yes, Gold-tier listings can leave a feature request and phone number from Requests in the dashboard, and we'll follow up directly.
